Well, I finally found my blog again and have been reading all the entries from 2009.....WOW what a time we had.
In October, 2009, we went to Tampa, FL and bought a 2009 Phaeton, manufactured by Tiffin Motor Homes. I guess I should say even though we bought it, the bank owns it and are just letting us use it.........of course, we're paying dearly for it. We did this for a couple of reasons, #1, we needed the tax deduction and #2, we felt we needed more room in the living area when we entertain our friends......sooo-o, we went from having two slideouts to having four slideouts and it's like living in a small efficiency apartment. You realize that this means Chris and I are almost joined at the hip since we are together 24/7 365 days a year.
After purchasing the coach, we went back to Rockport, TX for the winter. We have been doing this since 2003 and it was like a family reunion when all the "Winter Texans" (as we're called), get back to the area. We really love our RV friends and consider them as our extended family.
We have had quite a few bumps in the road, which have actually been boulders in the road since buying this new coach......that in itself is a whole other story.
In short though, we have been back to the factory in Red Bay, AL four times.
We've been there so many times, that they all know us by name.....if not by face.
We had scheduled a trip to Nova Scotia for July, 2010 in celebration of our 50th anniversary. We made all our reservations and planned out our stops until we reach the place we were to meet up with the group we were going with. We got to Gettysburg, PA where we were to stay for two nights. On the day we were to leave Chris put the jacks up and low and behold, one of them refused to go up. After many calls to the factory we were advised to have someone come out and take the jack off......in the process of jacking the coach up to get the jack off, it twisted the coach and broke the windshield in the coach. The first replacement windshield sent was broken before it got to us. Another one was ordered.....keeping in mind that this was over the 4th of July holidays, we actually spent 14 days at the campground. The people there were absolutely wonderful to us.....we had to move several times but they seemed to always have a place for us to move.
Needless to say we missed the meeting place for the tour and since we were unable to give them sufficient notice that we would not be able to go, we lost half the cost of the tour......
Back to Red Bay, AL we went....they replaced the jack and we headed back to Texas.
We came back to Charlotte in October 2010 to celebrate our 50th anniversary with renewal of vows in our home church and even had a reception on the next Sunday......Our church family here have been wonderful friends.
We had an early Thanksgiving with our family and headed back to Texas. Not long after our arrival back in Texas we received a telephone call that my brother, Leroy, had fallen and was in a coma.......he passed away January 14, 2011. We left the coach in Texas and drove the car back to Charlotte to help with funeral arrangements and other matters dealing with his death.
